The solemn session of Council Day in Ponta do Sol will travel through the three parishes of the municipality in a decentralized celebration. This year, the commemorative ceremony of the 525th anniversary of the municipality takes place this Tuesday at the Campo Municipal dos Canhas, abandoning the usual institutional spaces.

The decision to decentralize the celebrations was explained by the president of the Municipal Council, Rui Marques. The mayor intends to make the anniversary of the municipality a truly municipal celebration, without concentration in a single location.

Ponta do Sol is a municipality on the island of Madeira composed of three parishes. This initiative marks a change in the way the municipal authority has been commemorating Council Day, bringing the celebrations closer to the population of each parish.
