The sidewalk works in the center of the town of Mafra continue to cause strong traffic restrictions, with slow circulation and successive inconveniences on the main roads of the region. The interventions, started on August 31st, involve road closures on Avenida Movimento das Forças Armadas, on Terreiro D. João V and on Avenida 25 de Abril, significantly affecting the daily flow of vehicles.
The impact is higher during peak traffic hours, both on exits and entrances to the town. The alternatives for road circulation go through Avenida 1.º de Maio, Rua Almirante Gago Coutinho and the remaining streets of the surrounding area, which have absorbed a good part of the traffic diverted from the center.
In the late afternoon today, three agents from the Mafra Municipal Police were controlling the circulation at the roundabout on Rua Almirante Gago Coutinho, trying to minimize the inconveniences caused by the works to drivers who use that alternative route.
