The motion of censure presented by the Chega party was rejected today in the Assembly of the Republic. The party that presented the motion was the only one to vote in favor of it, thus failing to achieve the intention of toppling the government.
The parties that voted against the motion were PSD/CDS, through the AD coalition, as well as IL, PAN and Livre. These parties thus expressed their disagreement with the motion presented by Chega.
As for the position of several parties, PCP, PS, JPP and Left Bloc abstained from the vote. This abstention position indicates that these parties did not want to express support for the motion nor explicitly reject it.
The result of the vote demonstrates that Chega's motion of censure did not have sufficient support to proceed, with the vast majority of parties voting against or abstaining.
