Chaves hosts, between September 12 and 16, the 41st edition of SMYTE – Small Meeting on Yeast Transport and Energetics, an international meeting that brings together about 80 specialists in areas such as cell transport, bioenergetics, metabolism, disease and biotechnology. The event takes place at the Nadir Afonso Museum of Contemporary Art.
The meeting is promoted by the universities of Minho and Lisbon, with the support of the Municipality of Chaves, and features fifty national and international speakers. Over five days, researchers will discuss topics related to cell function, from the transport of molecules and energy production to stress response, aging, disease and applications in biotechnology.
The program also includes the participation of doctoral students and young researchers, in a format that aims to stimulate scientific discussion and the creation of new international collaborations.
