Arouca: 'Center for Experimentation of Artistic Practices' with inauguration scheduled

The Arouca City Council scheduled for September 12 at 5:30 PM the inauguration ceremony for the requalification works of the so-called "Casarão" at the local secondary school, transforming it into the "Center for Experimentation of Artistic Practices".

The ancient construction building was adapted to promote artistic creation stimulation activities, support artistic skills development, and encourage innovation, providing the community with a space with new conditions and possibilities.

The intervention involved an investment exceeding 732 thousand euros, returning to the community a more suitable environment for young people to create, learn, experiment, and realize ideas.

The work was financed within the scope of the Action Plans of Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities of the Porto Metropolitan Area, through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

Chanttal Mendez, a young Luso-Venezuelan born and raised in Caracas until the age of 10, moved with her family to Aveiro, Portugal, motivated by her maternal grandmother's Portuguese roots. In an interview with Agência Incomparáveis, she shares memories of her happy childhood in Venezuela, the process of adapting to Portugal, and the construction of a dual identity that she never felt was contradictory. Currently studying International Relations at Universidade Lusíada do Porto, Chanttal combines the preservation of Venezuelan customs in her daily life – such as food, music, and language – with Portuguese habits, describing it as a "very beautiful mixture" between both cultures. Her journey in beauty pageants includes titles such as Miss Teen Aveiro 2023 and, more recently, Miss Aura Portugal, which she intends to use as a platform for social projects and one day to represent Portugal in an international competition.
