Over 400 flights cancelled in the United Kingdom due to a technical failure in air traffic control

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General8 September 2026 at 17:30

A technical failure in UK air traffic control caused more than 400 flights to be cancelled at the country's main airports. The technical problem significantly affected British air operations.

The most affected airports include London's two main terminals, Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as Manchester and Birmingham airports. These are some of the largest air hubs in the United Kingdom.

According to British operator NATS, responsible for air traffic control, the system began to recover after the failure. The situation is gradually improving following the massive disruption to air travel.
