Twelve countries, including Portugal, announced today their intention to introduce national restrictions and support European measures that limit trade in goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank. This decision comes in the context of growing tensions between Israel and the international community regarding the expansion of settlements in the occupied territories. Portugal thus joins eleven other European countries that decided to implement these restrictive trade measures with Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The sanctions specifically target products originating from these colonies, aiming to pressure Israel to end its colonization policy, which is considered illegal under international law.
