The candidate for federal deputy for Novo Carol Sponza, who ran for mayor of Rio in 2024, is one of the lawyers who signed the request for the removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The request was accepted by Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court, and was presented by the party's national directory within the scope of the investigations into Banco Master.
The representation, filed on September 2, requested the opening of a criminal investigation to investigate the possible illicit conduct of Andrei Rodrigues and his precautionary removal from the PF leadership. The document was signed by Carol Sponza and by lawyer Carolina Barreto Siebra.
At the STF, the Second Chamber formed a majority to maintain Mendonça's decision that removed the PF chief, but Minister Gilmar Mendes requested a view, interrupting the analysis of the case. The Attorney General's Office (AGU) announced that it will appeal against the decision, alleging violation of the President's competence.
