The trial of André Mendonça's decision to remove the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues, began to reveal at the Supreme Federal Court a bloc aligned with the minister amid the crisis dividing the Court. Gilmar Mendes' request for a view interrupted the analysis and gave more time for the ministers to seek a solution to the impasse behind the scenes.
Even with the suspension, Mendonça managed to form a majority to uphold his decision, with the anticipated votes of Kassio Nunes Marques and Luiz Fux, two ministers who had been counted among his possible supporters in the internal discussions sparked by the Master case. Dias Toffoli did not vote.
Since the crisis between Mendonça and Alexandre de Moraes intensified, ministers have begun mapping support in light of the prospect that different aspects of the clash would be submitted to the full court. Mendonça's decision to remove Andrei Rodrigues from the PF directorship was challenged and taken to the STF for trial.
