The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) officially approved the inclusion of farmer Sidrônio Moreira's site in a new oil exploration block. The rural property is located in Tabuleiro do Norte, in the Jaguaribe Valley, in the state of Ceará. The site was included in the exploratory area after Sidrônio found crude oil while drilling an artesian well in search of water, having taken out a loan to carry out the work.
The approval was published this Friday (4) by ANP, which indicated 24 new exploratory blocks in the Potigar Basin, including the site of the Ceará farmer. This is the first necessary step to evaluate the economic viability of oil extraction and for the area to be included in the future in the Permanent Concession Offer (OPC), which brings together offers of oil and gas exploration areas. The approved blocks will still need to comply with other steps after the initial approval.
