Sporting Clube de Vale de Açores (SCVA) linked the presentation of its team for the new season to the work of the Guide Dogs for the Blind School, an institution based in Mortágua that is unique in Portugal dedicated to training pairs consisting of blind persons and guide dogs. In the presentation match for members and supporters, players entered the field accompanied by several guide dogs trained by the school. The initiative aimed to raise visibility for the institution's work, which since its founding has trained and provided free of charge over 300 guide dogs to people with visual impairments throughout the country.
The president of SCVA, Rogério Diogo, recalled that social responsibility is part of the club's identity and that this is not the first action of its kind. Last season, the club partnered with Associação Morpatudos to promote responsible adoption of stray dogs. Diogo stated that the club carries out two to three social activities per year, having also donated machines to Sport Lisboa e Nelas after a fire destroyed that club's laundry room in September 2025, organized donation drives and delivered approximately 1,500 kilograms of goods to a shelter in Viseu during Christmas.
The president of the Beira Aguieira Association for Support to the Visually Impaired (ABAADV), which manages the School, Mafalda Vicente, said the association was "touched" by the invitation. She emphasized that state participation, through Social Security and an Atypical Cooperation Agreement, represents 51.2% of ABAADV's budget for 2026, with the remainder provided by companies, sponsors, volunteers, the municipality of Mortágua and Centro 2030 Program. The director highlighted the importance of external support and the close relationship with the community.
In sporting terms, SCVA won the presentation match 3-0, with goals from André Sena, Ricardo Oliveira and Abel, and will compete this season in the Honour Division of the Viseu Football Association, after becoming district champions of the First Division last season.
