The Secretary-General of PS, José Luís Carneiro, responded to André Ventura during the debate on the censure motion against the Government. Carneiro stated that the socialists are not conditioned by Luís Neves, Montenegro's chief of staff, and that he is not afraid of the Chega leader, considering that PS has always fought for freedom in the streets, even when it is misused.
Carneiro criticized Ventura's conspiracy theories and recalled that the deputy even considered fleeing to Morocco. Regarding PS's position on the censure motion, the socialist leader justified that the Portuguese do not want a political crisis, but rather a government that responds to their concerns.
The Secretary-General of PS blamed André Ventura for blocking scrutiny in the areas of health and education, ironically suggesting that Montenegro should give Ventura the title of "employee of the month." Carneiro also accused the Prime Minister of surrendering to Chega's embrace to diminish workers' rights and reminded Ventura's party of having broken its word on the approval of the new labor code.
