Environmentalists have filed a complaint against the European Union over poor management of water resources. The complaint draws attention to the way water resources are being managed in the European bloc.
The complaint recalls that in December 2025, the European Commission announced it would review and amend the water protection law. The European executive claimed the review was necessary to facilitate access to essential raw materials.
The Commission therefore intends to modify existing legislation on the protection of water resources, at a time when the extraction of raw materials in European territory has gained greater strategic relevance.
