Prime Minister Luís Montenegro announced that the Government will grant a bonus to pensioners in December. This measure aims to support pension beneficiaries during a particularly economically challenging period.
Regarding tax relief, Montenegro revealed that the income tax reduction will be applied up to the sixth bracket. The Prime Minister stressed that, "in practice", this reduction "covers all taxpayers", meaning it is not limited to the lowest income brackets.
This tax relief measure will begin to be felt as early as November. Taxpayers should notice the impact of the income tax reduction both in their November salary and in the Christmas bonus, which is typically paid in December.
The measures were presented in a context of concern over the cost of living and aim to provide some financial relief to Portuguese families during the Christmas season.
