The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, publicly expressed today his displeasure regarding a narrative that has been associating his name with drug-related issues. The official considered that some expressions used by the Chega party were slanderous and offensive.
Luís Neves reacted to comments that apparently compared different situations, mentioning that "it was only missing, as was said, to sell drugs or smuggle alcohol", stating that such statements are "slanderous for everyone" involved.
The minister criticized the fact that different matters were presented together, stating that "they talked about the car, the truck, the weapon, everything was passed as a package, as if it were all the same thing". This approach was interpreted by the official as an attempt to improperly associate his name with illegal activities.
Luís Neves's reaction comes in the context of a political debate where his name has been associated with drug issues by political forces, namely Chega, which used expressions that the minister considered disproportionate and harmful to his honor.
