This year, the parliamentary rentrée came earlier, driven by the controversies involving Luís Neves, the Minister of Internal Administration. In a long four-hour hearing on Tuesday morning, Luís Neves guaranteed he has conditions to continue in office, trying to answer the criticisms that accumulated during the summer.
In the afternoon, the Plenary discussed and voted on a censure motion presented by the Chega party, which aimed at the dismissal of the entire Executive. The motion had no prospects of being approved, as the PS confirmed it would abstain from the vote, thus blocking any possibility of success for the initiative.
Although the motion has no legs to stand on, its discussion and voting contributed to amplifying the Government's wear and tear, at a time when the Executive was already facing several controversies accumulated during the summer period.
