Lamp that detects epilepsy seizures takes Lampsy Health to Global Tech Innovator 2026 final

Lampsy Health, a Portuguese startup, has developed a lamp capable of detecting epilepsy seizures, thus making it to the international final of Global Tech Innovator 2026.

The company was founded by three entrepreneurs: Vicente Garção, Leonor Pereira and Joana Pinto.

Portugal will be represented at the final, which takes place in November during Web Summit, where Lampsy Health will compete with national winners from over 20 countries.

Polytechnic University of Guarda Registers Three Patents After Launching Training in Industrial Property

The Polytechnic University of Guarda (UPG) achieved a significant milestone by registering three patents after launching, in March, an Executive Training Program in Innovation and Intellectual Property in partnership with the consulting firm Inventa. Between June and July 2026, the institution submitted two national patent applications for a digital manufacturing system and a hybrid 3D printing system, and an international patent application for an integrated blood infusion device. Rector Joaquim Brigas highlighted that these patents represent UPG's commitment to protecting innovation and bringing academia closer to the business sector, transforming knowledge into tangible value for the region and the country.
