A Finnish court is trying the captain and a crew member of a Russian merchant ship, accusing them of aggravated damage and aggravated obstruction. The trial is taking place in Finland and the two men deny the facts attributed to them. Commercial navigation in the Baltic Sea has been a sensitive issue in relations between Finland and Russia, particularly since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. The Finnish authorities have not specified what damages the cargo ship allegedly caused nor the exact circumstances of the charges.
