The pilgrimage to Penha takes place this Sunday in Guimarães, restricting traffic in the area throughout the day. The walk is scheduled to begin at 08:00 at Largo da Oliveira, proceeding through various city streets to the Penha Sanctuary.
The route includes Alfredo Guimarães Street, Largo República do Brasil, Dr. José Sampaio Street, Domingos Torcato Ribeiro Street, Praceta Lions International and the EN101-2, continuing then through Marinha da Costa, da Ponte, de S. Roque, do Montinho, da Penha and da Montanha streets.
Between 07:00 and 19:00, traffic will be prohibited on the EN101-2 in the uphill direction, between Praceta Lions International at Costa and Penha. In the downhill direction, traffic will also be prohibited on the section between Penha and Rua de Belos Ares, in Mesão Frio.
The Municipality of Guimarães recommends that drivers plan their journeys in advance, respecting the temporary signage installed. The council has made available an edict with detailed information about the route and all roads covered by the restrictions.
