Mercadona has just opened a new store and is getting closer and closer to the Algarve: see the location

Mercadona opened its first supermarket in the district of Beja, marking its entry into a new territory and raising to 75 the number of stores in Portugal. The new unit is located at Estrada das Apolinárias, No. 1, in Beja Jardim Retail. The construction required an investment of over five million euros and had a team of 64 workers, all with permanent contracts from the first day.

The expansion to the south of the country precedes the planned arrival in the Algarve. Portimão should receive the first Algarve unit in October, at Nova Vila Retail Park, followed by Faro about a month later. Thus, the expansion to the Algarve region contemplates two cities, while the Beja unit is already in operation.

Sofia Fonseca, director of External Relations Center and South of Portugal, considered the opening an important milestone for the company. In a statement, she stated that the arrival in the district of Beja represents a significant moment for Mercadona's expansion project in Portugal and expressed satisfaction at opening doors in the region, associating the arrival with job creation and proximity to Alentejo consumers.

Cruise ship weddings cost up to one-third the price and win over couples in the USA

In the United States, cruise ship weddings are emerging as a growing trend, with reservations increasing more than 200% in the last year, according to a report from travel agency Fora. While the average cost of a traditional ceremony ranges from approximately $34,200 to $36,000, basic cruise wedding packages start at around $4,000, potentially reaching $10,000 for more complete versions. A real example shows that a bride from Florida estimated a traditional wedding at $50,000 but chose a cruise package for $7,000 that, including photographer and airfare, totaled approximately $15,000 — less than one-third the price. Beyond the savings, the convenience of having the ceremony, decoration, and reception included in the package attracts couples looking to avoid coordinating multiple vendors. The trend reflects a growing interest in personalized celebrations focused on experiences and destinations.
