Guimarães will host on September 12 the first Classic Vespa Ride, an event that aims to provide a moment of fellowship among enthusiasts of these Italian scooters and allow the people of Guimarães to contemplate historic examples of this iconic brand.
The ride will feature around 50 Classic Vespas, including a Vespa from 1954 and models from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. The gathering is exclusively dedicated to classic and original Vespas, maintaining the characteristics and identity of the models from each era.
The gathering will begin at Campo de São Mamede, near Guimarães Castle, with departure scheduled for 3:00 PM. The route will cross the streets of the historic centre and several parishes of the municipality, allowing the population to watch the scooters pass by.
The initiative has the support of the local group Vespas & Vespistas and assumes a cultural dimension, seeking to value the history and heritage associated with the Vespa, one of the most recognized symbols of Italian design and culture in the 20th century. The ride is free.
