New tariffs between the United States and Canada have come into effect. The rates vary between 15% and 50% and apply to over 700 American products exported to Canada.
These measures represent a new escalation in the trade war between Ottawa and Washington. The total value of affected trade is estimated at 20 billion dollars.
The two neighboring and allied countries are facing an escalating tariff conflict, with each side imposing new rates on the other's products.
