Marítimo threatens to go to court over pitch criticism

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 13:48

Marítimo threatened to take legal measures related to court criticism of its pitch condition. The Madeiran club handed over to its legal services the accusations that it painted the pitch to disguise the poor condition it was in.

The island club also admits to taking legal action against the authors of old images that were published as if they were current, suggesting that the current situation of the pitch is worse than it really is.

The threat of legal action comes in response to the criticism that has been made about the quality of the pitch at Estádio do Marítimo, which has been the subject of public discussion. The club intends to protect its image and hold accountable those who disseminate information it considers false.
