Supreme Court (STF) Minister André Mendonça stated that a report produced by the Federal Police and cited by his fellow court member Alexandre de Moraes to question his actions in the Master case ended up harming investigations that were underway. The document, of an apocryphal nature, revealed the existence of an operation that was pending judicial decision and that targeted leaders of União Brasil, ACM Neto and Antônio Rueda.
Mendonça used the anticipation of the PF's actions as a central argument to temporarily remove the director-general of the corporation, Andrei Rodrigues. The decision was issued this Tuesday and revealed by columnist Malu Gaspar of the newspaper O Globo.
In the decision, Mendonça harshly criticized the apocryphal document, pointing out that it lacks clear provenance, does not indicate authorship, and has no date of preparation. The minister classified the report as full of high abstractions, speculations, and subjective judgments of every kind.
The case involves a dispute between the two STF ministers over who should continue leading the investigations of the operation that became known as the Master case, which investigates alleged irregularities involving the União Brasil party.
