The decision by Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), determined the removal of Andrei Rodrigues as head of the Federal Police. The measure was anticipated by GLOBO columnist Malu Gaspar.
The decision orders the Federal Police Internal Affairs to open investigative procedures of a criminal and administrative-disciplinary nature to investigate the conduct of the director-general. The document determines that the results of the investigations be submitted to the rapporteur.
According to Mendonça, the removal of Andrei Rodrigues is necessary so that the members of the Court can act without interference. The decision also mentions that the case is related to investigations into possible irregularities in the PF's conduct.
Other proceedings mentioned in the same session of the STF include a case against Mendonça himself that was withdrawn from the fake news inquiry by Minister Fachin, in addition to Vorcaro's testimony to the STF about discomfort in signing a collaboration agreement with the PF.
