PSOE will vote in favor of the bill presented by Sumar to allow those born in Western Sahara before 1977 and their descendants to obtain Spanish nationality. The PSOE spokesperson in Congress, Patxi López, confirmed this decision on Wednesday.
The vote is scheduled for Thursday. The socialist party decided to support the initiative despite the potential diplomatic repercussions with Morocco, which considers Western Sahara as part of its territory.
Patxi López assured that Morocco's position does not condition PSOE's decision. The spokesperson stressed that the party made this decision independently, without being influenced by what the Moroccan government may think.
