Marítimo will take legal action against those responsible for spreading images of their stadium's pitch, which were allegedly presented as current when they were actually old. The Madeiran club considers that false public statements were made about having painted the playing surface green to hide the poor state of the grass.
The decision to use legal services comes following the various criticisms of the pitch condition, which occurred before, during and after the match against Benfica. The club acknowledges the existence of the problem but disputes the way the situation was presented publicly.
In a statement, the Marítimo Board acknowledges that no one is more concerned than the board itself about the state of the playing surface, suggesting they are working to resolve the situation. The club thus threatens to go to court to defend its image and hold accountable those who spread information considered false.
