The Municipal Zoological Park of Volta Redonda (Zoo-VR) turned 45 years old this birthday month, marking a new phase for the space. The zoo is undergoing a revitalization and modernization process with an investment of R$3.7 million. With approximately 150 thousand square meters, the park is located in an Atlantic Forest region surrounding the Cicuta Forest, in Vila Santa Cecília.
The interventions are being carried out in animal living areas and administrative spaces. The project also includes the expansion of leisure and recreation areas for visiting public. The idea is to make Zoo-VR more suitable, comfortable, accessible and attractive for both visitors and staff, as well as improve the living conditions of the animals.
The space receives approximately 20 thousand visitors per month and is considered a reference in leisure, tourism and environmental preservation in the South Fluminense region. As part of the birthday celebrations, the zoo held food enrichment activities for the animals.
