France Football magazine revealed the nominees for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, an award that recognizes the best of the 2025/26 season. Among the contenders, Flamengo appears as a candidate for the Best Club of the Year award, after winning the Libertadores and Brasileirão in 2025.
The award ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London, England. The choice of the English capital was made as a tribute to Stanley Matthews, the first Ballon d'Or winner in 1956. Matthews, an English former striker, received the trophy created by journalist Gabriel Hanot at a simple ceremony held in Blackpool.
Since 2019, the ceremony had been held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. Before that, the award ceremony passed through other iconic locations in the French capital, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Palais. The exact location for the 2026 edition in London has not yet been disclosed by the organizers.
Among the nominees for the Men's Coach of the Year award are Mikel Arteta, from Arsenal, Luis de la Fuente, from Spain, and Unai Emery, from Aston Villa. The list of nominees continues with Vicente K..., but the name appears incomplete in the article.
