Mota-Engil consortium in the race for the construction of the new metro line in Bogotá

A consortium led by Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil has expressed interest in participating in the construction of Line 2 of the Bogotá Metro in Colombia. Empresa Metro de Bogotá received pre-qualification requests from three international groups, also including the Spanish Sacyr and the Chinese Xi'an Rail Transportation Group. The Mota-Engil consortium is composed of Mota-Engil Colombia, Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção África, Mota-Engil México, and the French Spie Batignolles Génie Civil. The requests will be evaluated to verify compliance with legal, financial, and experience requirements, followed by the submission of financial and technical proposals by the end of the year. Contract signing and the start of works are scheduled for the second half of 2027, with a 15.5 km extension and 11 stations.

A car for life? Study analyzed more than 33,000 automobiles and these are the ones with the fewest problems

The latest JD Power study analyzed more than 33,000 automobiles with three years of use and revealed that Lexus leads for the fourth consecutive year among premium brands, with 151 problems per 100 vehicles, followed by Cadillac and Porsche. Among mass-market brands, Buick took first place with 160 problems per 100 automobiles. The Toyota group was the one that earned the most model awards, with eight distinctions, including the Lexus IS as the best global model. Reported problems increased slightly, with the industry average reaching 204 problems per 100 vehicles, the highest value since 2022, with infotainment systems being the main source of complaints. Plug-in hybrids were the technology with the most problems and gasoline cars the most reliable.
