Four young people died after the car they were traveling in plunged down an embankment on Angeles Crest Highway, in southern California, in the early hours of Friday (4th). According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the black Hyundai Veloster was traveling on State Route 2, near Wrightwood, when the driver lost control just before 1:30 a.m. The vehicle left the road, rolled down a slope and hit a power pole.
The accident left six occupants in total. Five of them were ejected from the car during the impact. Two occupants survived and were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office has already identified three of the victims: Rebekah Cabral-Gonzalez, 21 years old, and Jason Potter, among others. The victims' families created fundraising campaigns to cover the funerals of the four young people killed in the incident.
