Just weeks before the elections, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a new controversy. The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz published an investigation according to which the leader received a warning just 10 days before the Hamas attack.
In September 2023, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Bin Zayed, called Netanyahu to alert him that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was planning a large-scale operation against Israel. The conversation lasted approximately 45 minutes.
However, the prime minister took no action. According to the investigation, Netanyahu did not share the information with the country's security chiefs, nor did he take additional precautions in response to the warning.
This revelation comes at a politically sensitive time, just weeks before elections in Israel, and represents another blow to Netanyahu, who already faces strong criticism for his management of national security during the conflict.
