Vila Viçosa Submits to CCDR Alentejo the Dossier for UNESCO World Heritage Candidacy

The Municipal Council of Vila Viçosa submitted to the Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR) of Alentejo the dossier for its UNESCO World Heritage candidacy. The submission took place on September 2, during a meeting between the mayor of Vila Viçosa, Inácio Esperança, and the vice-president of CCDR Alentejo.

The candidacy, titled "Vila Viçosa – Ducal Seat," aims to classify the Alentejo municipality as World Heritage. The dossier represents the culmination of a preparation process aimed at recognizing the historical and cultural value of the town.

Inácio Esperança, the mayor, formally delivered the document to the vice-president of CCDR Alentejo. This step marks an important phase in the candidacy process with the entities responsible for evaluating and forwarding proposals at the national and international levels.
