The Public Prosecutor accused two men and a company from Spain of aiding illegal immigration in Elvas. The investigated criminal activity was international in nature and was organized to bring in and exploit workers from various countries, such as Algeria and Morocco, in Portugal.
The two defendants, together with the Spanish company, are suspected of facilitating the illegal entry of these workers into Portuguese territory, exploiting them laborally. The investigation revealed that the operation crossed the border between Spain and Portugal, with Elvas as the place of operation.
The note consulted by the Portuguese news agency indicates that the scheme involved the recruitment of workers in their countries of origin and their subsequent introduction into the Portuguese labor market under irregular conditions. The authorities believe that the defendants obtained economic benefits from this illegal activity.
