The new team from the Episcopal Committee for Liturgy and Spirituality (CELE) and the National Liturgy Secretariat (SNL) met this Monday to begin joint work for the new 2026-2029 triennium. The meeting, which officially launched under the guidance of the new director, Father Joaquim Ganhão, was chaired by the Archbishop of Braga, D. José Cordeiro, accompanied by the member bishops of the Committee and the members of the National Liturgy Secretariat.

The agenda for this first meeting included the evaluation of the 50th National Liturgical Pastoral Encounter, also allowing for the presentation of the main ongoing works in the various SNL services. Among the pastoral divisions examined in the session were the dossiers pertaining to the National Service for Sacred Music, the National Service for Altar Servers, and the Service for Sacred Arts and Architecture for Liturgy.

The meeting also served to assess the works in development and the upcoming publications of the National Liturgy Secretariat, providing the leaders with an overview of the planned initiatives and priorities for the coming months.

The Episcopal Committee for Liturgy and Spirituality is the body of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference with the mission to animate, coordinate, and promote liturgical life and spirituality in Portugal. The National Liturgy Secretariat operates as its executive arm, taking responsibility for the publication of official liturgical books, the promotion of formative encounters, and the coordination of fundamental dimensions of the celebrative life of the Catholic Church in the national territory.
