Academic performance continues to deteriorate among 15-year-old students in OECD countries. One in five students shows low achievement in Science, Mathematics and Reading, according to the PISA study.
Mathematics and Reading were the subjects that recorded the most significant declines over the past decade, reflecting a worrying trend of academic decline among the assessed students.
The study also points to the effects of digital distractions as one of the factors contributing to this poor academic performance, identifying a relationship between time spent on electronic devices and reduced concentration ability.
Furthermore, the report warns about the use of Artificial Intelligence in learning, suggesting that this technology may represent an additional challenge in the educational context of the evaluated countries.
