Spain obtains devastating results in PISA 2025: Spanish students lose 23 points in reading competence, which is approximately equivalent to more than a school year. In mathematics, the decline is 16 points and in science, 8 points. The international evaluation, organized by the OECD since the year 2000 and directed at 15-year-old students, reflects a sustained decline without signs of stopping.
After the bad results of PISA 2022, the Government of Pedro Sánchez announced with great fanfare a reinforcement plan in reading and mathematics to reverse the situation. However, the implementation of said plan in the classrooms was between modest and non-existent, and three years later there is no trace of recovery.
The PISA 2025 report was published this morning worldwide and confirms that Spain is sinking in these international evaluations, with a progressive deterioration that seems to have no brakes.
