AI-Discovered Drug Reverses Aging Markers in Study

An experimental drug for lung diseases developed using artificial intelligence showed potential to reverse biological signs of aging, according to Insilico Medicine, the pharmaceutical company responsible for developing the drug. The discovery points to a broader possibility for the treatment's use beyond lung diseases.

In an intermediate phase study, the drug rentosertibe helped reduce biological age as measured by six different aging clocks, which analyze chemical changes in the body. The data was published in the scientific journal Nature Biotechnology.

Those who received placebo showed little change in their biological age on the same clocks, the company reported. The result suggests that the drug may have significant effects on reversing aging markers compared to the group that did not receive the treatment.
