Brazil was at the bottom of the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) list in all three assessed competencies. The country's best performance was in Reading, where it ranked 52nd among approximately 90 participating countries and economies. In Mathematics, Brazil ranked 67th, and in Sciences, 71st.

The top positions in the Mathematics ranking were China's regions of Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, with a score of 612. Singapore came in second with 563 points, followed by Macau (China) with 549, Taiwan with 546 and Japan with 525. Hong Kong (China) and South Korea tied with 522 points.

Among European countries, Estonia stood out with 508 points, while Switzerland obtained 499. The United Kingdom scored 488, Poland 484, and the Netherlands 483. Finland, traditionally recognized for the quality of its education, appeared further down the list, with 469 points in Mathematics.

Pisa 2025: Brazil falls up to 92 points below the OECD average
