Russia resumed overnight attacks on Kiev after a three-day suspension, which coincided with the visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Ukraine. The military administration of the capital announced the activation of air defense late Monday night, September 7.
Emergency services reported that buildings were hit in the districts of Boryspil and Fastiv, in the suburbs of Kiev. The Russian state agency Tass confirmed that the three-day moratorium on attacks against the capital, instituted on the occasion of the visit of the American negotiators, had ended.
During this period, Ukraine had also suspended attacks against the Moscow region, as a gesture of mutual goodwill during the negotiations.
Steve Witkoff, who made visits to Kiev and Moscow this weekend, stated on Monday that this round of visits allowed "substantial progress" toward the organization of tripartite negotiations to end the conflict triggered by Russia in February 2022. This was Witkoff's first trip to Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
