Air traffic was gradually resumed at the main international airport of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, after a volcanic eruption that paralyzed operations.

The volcanic eruption prevented hundreds of aircraft from taking off at the airport.

More than 300,000 passengers were affected by the shutdown caused by the volcanic event.
