Colombia's Ministry of Defense announced that President Abelardo de la Espriella's government achieved significant results in combating armed groups during the first month of his term. A total of 14,914 people were captured during this initial period.
In addition to the arrests, authorities reported that at least 23 leaders of armed groups were killed or detained during the operations carried out in the first month of de la Espriella's administration.
The numbers were released by the Colombian Ministry of Defense itself as part of the assessment of security actions implemented since the beginning of President Abelardo de la Espriella's presidency.
These results represent the first concrete data from the new government in its security policy and fight against organized crime in the country.
