Josep Maria Antràs, emeritus dean of the Barcelona Bar Association and president of the Emotional Health Commission of this institution, is one of the driving forces behind a new psychological service that will assist lawyers in Barcelona when they face mental health issues.
According to Antràs, many lawyers don't talk about their mental health problems for fear of being labeled and losing clients. This situation leads many professionals to suffer in silence, without seeking help.
Antràs experienced the consequences of this problem firsthand when his wife, who was passionate about her career as a lawyer, became ill and died from a stroke after receiving an unfavorable ruling by email.
This new psychological service emerges as a response to the need to care for the emotional health of legal professionals, a sector frequently exposed to high levels of stress and pressure.
