Review: In likely farewell, Elton John showcases classic repertoire with sharp band at Rock in Rio

Elton John performed as the main attraction of Rock in Rio on this Monday, in a show that may have been his last performance at the festival. The British singer, considered one of the biggest names of the entire festival, took the stage under rays and thunder projected on the screen, with sinister images until the musicians settled in to start the presentation.

The show opened with the duo of songs "Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding," a rock led by Elton's piano, with emphasis on the faithful guitarist Davey Johnstone, who has been with the artist for over 50 years, although with some interruptions during that period.

Next, Elton John performed "Bennie and the Jets," maintaining the danceable rock-blues vibe. Visually, the star opted for a yellow blazer over a peacock blue shirt, combined with blue glasses — an unintentional homage to the samba school Unidos da Tijuca. The party continued with "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues," raising the mood of the audience.

Actor Enrique Diaz was cast to play the character Olegário, an unscrupulous husband, in the soap opera "Paraíso perdido" on Globoplay. Initially invited to join the artistic director Joana Jabace's team, with whom he worked on "Joia rara" and "A regra do jogo", it was decided that this time he will act only in front of the cameras. Ritinha's plot, played by Larissa Bocchino, is based on the play "Bonitinha, mas ordinária" by Nelson Rodrigues, and also draws inspiration from three other works by the author: "A mulher sem pecado", "Toda nudez será castigada" and "Os sete gatinhos".
