Catalina Ribas Núñez is a Professor of Microbiology at the Autonomous University of Madrid, linked to the Severo Ochoa Center for Molecular Biology. Born in Palma in 1966, she graduated and obtained her doctorate from the University of the Balearic Islands, having worked for four years in South Carolina, in the United States.

The researcher has just published a study in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology on a protein considered fundamental in hair loss. The work was received with great recognition in the scientific community.

According to her perspective, cells become ill when they stop communicating properly with neighboring cells, which constitutes the central theme of her research.
