Rock in Rio 2026 held on Monday, September 7, a holiday, a special edition that included the awaited return of the band Roupa Nova to the festival. This was only the second time the group performed at the event, since their only previous appearance had been at the 1991 edition.
The band, formed in 1980, is known for mixing progressive rock, MPB, and other musical styles. The group is composed of six members, who showed great excitement upon seeing the audience waiting for the performance at the Sunset Stage.
The band's return to the festival was crowned by a sequence of great hits. Among the first songs performed were classics such as "Sapato Velho" and "Linda Demais," as well as other hits like "Whisky à Go Go" and "Volta Pra Mim." The audience quickly filled the Sunset Stage, demonstrating that the band's participation could easily be repeated in future editions.
The presentation took place alongside Guilherme Arantes, also a guest of the festival. The success of the performance was evident not only in the full capacity of the stage, but also in the visible satisfaction of the six members of Roupa Nova with the audience's receptiveness.
