The Mayor of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo, participated in the celebrations of Kaiserslautern's 750th anniversary in Germany, at the invitation of the president of the local authority, Beate Kimmel. The event marked a significant occasion for the German city, which commemorated this historic milestone with the presence of international representatives.
Guimarães' participation in the event allowed for strengthening cooperation ties with Kaiserslautern's sister cities. Representatives from Brandenburg an der Havel, Bunkyō-ku, Columbia, Pleven and Saint-Quentin were present, in addition to the Portuguese delegation, thus gathering several partner cities in one place.
This participation is part of the internationalization and intermunicipal cooperation strategy that Guimarães has developed over the years. Strengthening these relations allows the Portuguese city to maintain and deepen contacts with other European and international municipalities.
Ricardo Araújo's presence at these celebrations demonstrates Guimarães' commitment to maintaining an active presence in the sister city relations landscape, contributing to the strengthening of international cooperation at the municipal level.
