A political event organized by Flavio Bolsonaro on Paulista Avenue, in São Paulo, ended up turning into a protest against minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Federal Supreme Court. The event gathered nearly 30 thousand people, according to estimates by the Political Debate Monitor of USP/Cebrap in partnership with the organization More in Common.
Event participants expressed discontent with the investigations conducted by Moraes, with many stating that the events of the last week motivated them to attend the protest. The atmosphere was one of opposition to the minister's measures.
The crowd estimate was below the one recorded on last year's holiday, when the same type of demonstration on Paulista Avenue gathered 42.2 thousand people. During the same period the previous year, Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, also received a mobilization of 42.7 thousand participants.
Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, led the organization of the event that sought to capitalize on the sentiment of dissatisfaction with Moraes' judicial decisions, at a time of intensification of conflicts between Bolsonaro allies and the STF.
