Amid trade war, Trump threatens to ban sale of Canadian Bombardier jets in the US

oglobo7 September 2026 at 21:21

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatened on Monday to ban the sale of jets from the Canadian company Bombardier in the American market. The threat was made through a social media post, where Trump wrote: "STOP SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES!" and added that the company's products are not good enough.

The measure comes amid the escalation of the trade war between the United States and Canada. Trump harshly criticized Bombardier, stating that more than 50% of the company's revenue comes from the United States and that it depends on American buyers, American companies, American airports, and American services.

The American president also accused Canada of blocking major American banks and companies throughout the country. Trump's threat comes as Canada prepares to impose, on Tuesday, tariffs of 15% to 50% on hundreds of products imported from the United States, in retaliation to the tariff measures adopted by the Trump administration.
