The marathon toward Carnival 2027 is in full swing, and by the end of this month all the Special Group samba schools will have defined the sambas-enredo to be presented in the parades at Marquês de Sapucaí. Last weekend, Portela, Mangueira and Mocidade were among the schools that defined their songs, and this week promises to be equally eventful.
The week will end with samba finals at the headquarters of four more schools: Beija-Flor, Vila Isabel, Salgueiro and Tijuca. These associations complete the cycle of decisions for the period, which has been marked by an intense schedule of contests and announcements.
Paraiso do Tuiuti was the first association to release its samba, on July 31st. Unlike the other schools, the association did not hold a contest and chose to commission the song directly from composers Claudio Russo, Gustavo Clarão and Luiz Antônio Simas.
The samba marks the debut of carnival designer Renato Lage as the person in charge of the school. Veteran in the world of carnivals, Lage takes over the position of carnival designer at Tuiuti with a theme that has not yet been fully detailed in the article, but promises to mark his debut leading the association.
